Your Home. Your Way. Idea of the Week - Working with columns in your lower level

Friday, June 18, 2010 by Jim Pohlhaus
I recently visited our Active Adult community at Shenandoah and was touring a few homes under construction. We were walking through the Willowcroft lower level when I was asked how to work with the support columns that are needed for this specific home. This question comes up quite a bit when we are working with homebuyers who are designing their lower level.

In this specific home, the column was located close to two foundation walls creating a tight space.  One possible solution is to use the column as a focal point for a wet bar. Take a look at the sketch and quick video and let us know what you think of the idea!
