Facebook fan, James Chou, had an excellent idea of what he wanted in his dream home. He chose the Fieldbrooke as his starting point and then let his imagination run wild. His first wish was a covered porch that was built off the master bedroom...a place where he could relax and read a book. He sent us this picture of a place he saw in another home which we used as inspiration in the final design. His other desires included more room in the family room, moving the laundry room to the main level, a two story side solarium, and adding a 5th bedroom on the second floor.

After reviewing the Fieldbrooke floorplan, here is what we came up with.

On the main level, we added a rear solarium and a 4' expansion off the family room. The mud room and pantry were reconfigured to allow room for a full size washer and dryer right off the kitchen.

On the second floor, the master bedroom was redesigned...moving the sitting room closer to the bathroom allowing for the covered porch to sit nicely off the back of the home. A 5th bedroom was easily added by using the space above the garage.

The rear elevation helps illustrate the noted changes on the floorplan. The second floor covered deck blends nicely with the architecture we used on the rear solarium. Also note the addition of the two story side solarium.

1.Seems great. I wonder how much (approx.) all these modifications cost. 2.Has the YHYW program ever added a pool to somebody's back yard or put in an indoor basketball court? Now that would be impressive.

Actual Price quotes depend on many factors. We will coordinate with our customers and sales team to meet budgets as they vary with everyone and everyone's final floor and selections would be factored into costs. Yes we have entertained building half courts however we do not actually install the courts. Our goal would be to prepare the home/lot depending on need and budget such as converting a detached garage space into a great space for racketball or basketball. We also work with pool vendors to again prepare spaces and lots that could accommodate future pools but we are not in the pool or court building process so these items are better left to our 3rd party experts. Thank You very much for your interest in our company and keep posting interesting requests to customize your new home.

Thanks so much for answering my questions. It is interesting to know that people have tried to do indoor basketball courts. I was starting to think it might be too complicated because of the potential height needed. You should post some results. I think people would love to see it. It is also great to hear that you work with pool vendors to prepare spaces and lots. I suppose with both of those scenarios, it would have been nice if you at least subcontracted the work out so that the cost could be included in the original loan. If you prepare a court area in the future, please post pics!!!(before and after the floor is put in if the owner will let you) Thanks
